Something Old, Something New
April 3, 2011
The old - stars.

Here in Ohio we don't really have an abundance of clear nights. It's mostly overcast, and very cloudly. I've been wanting very badly to do some cool star shots of them sweeping across the sky. My goal would be, sometime this summer, to spend a night in the country shooting at the north star to get some circular motion kind of thing happening, with perhaps an old church or cool looking barn in the foreground. I'm by far too much of a whimp to do this with chilly nights. As it was with this 12 minute exposure I sat inside my house holding the remote trigger staying nice and warm. :)
And the New - Wind Turbines

A train came in to the area bringing the makings of our wind turbines on flat bed train cars. I thought this would be a pretty cool thing to show my kids. They weren't as impressed as I was at the enormous size of these things. I suppose I pictured the wind turbines that are being built to be, well, smaller.

Here you can gather the size better with the large semi truck cab on the lower left side. These things are absolutely huge!
Ninjago ''Event''
April 2, 2011
A certain, large toy store chain advertised this amazing event for Nijagos, a lego toy. They would teach the kids how to play, ''secret'' techniques, a free gift, and have a casual tournament set up for kids to battle each other. Children were to bring their own nijagos, which are conveniently are available to purchase right there.
So we made a special trip to this large toy store, which of course is out of town and definately an effort to fit in being the middle of a Saturday.
And it was L A M E!!! None of the workers had a clue about the toy, the rules of the game, etc. The parents complained, and the response was, ''Well we thought the kids coming would know the rules.'' It sort of is like monopoly - my house plays one way, and your house plays another way, and neither of us may play the right way. So bringing all these children together and the parents are all nearly clueless, and we're trying to ref the children. It wasn't pretty.
I'm still wondering why they couldn't go and get one of their products off the shelf, open it up and get the rules from the inside of the package???
Well we didn't stay long, and their dissapointment didn't last long because I bought the kids off by purchasing the Dojo they've been saving for. Yeah, I bribe my kids.

Nataley is building her 'free gift'' which was basically - here kids are some legos, if you build something you can take it with you. No directions on what to build. My thought was, being in a nasty mood by this point, is lets take all the legos and build a very large tower. ;) Then at least I'd feel the gas and cost of eating out might have been worth it. lol. No we didn't, nor did I suggest this to any of the kids. I'm just confessing my naughty thoughts for all of you.

Chris and Joshua both ended up battling a girl - Nay.

Since there was obviously not going to be any resemblance of a tournament or even any real games being played, Christopher had some fun building a shield for his Knuckle skeleton guy.
