They Call It hatteryphotography.net August 6, 2010 It's true, my official business name is Jodi Hattery Photography, but ever since Josh and Nataley realize there's money involved, it looks more and more like I'll someday just be Hattery Photography. Yes, this is totally just a proud momma post, so prepare yourselves for gushing. It began when Nataley took home cold, hard cash from a 2nd place win at a photo competition for a really fantastic picture she took of a butterfly. And yes, she even beat me. Now Joshua thinks it might be a great way to earn some bucks for vacation by entering some pics in the junior competition at the fair this year. Nat and him have both been taking pictures so much more, nearly causing fights on who gets 'the' shot when we see something. While they aren't quite manual masters yet, they are rocking the focus and composition. I'd like to give them a few years to explain aperature and speeds ;) The first three shots I can't really remember who shot what, but I know it wasn't me! ![]() And of course I was more than happy when they wanted pictures with their mother! Wow that won't happen much more, will it!? Nataley is holding her new prize posession, a hand painted silk parosol. ![]() *sigh* Yes, my Christopher. My darling red head. My first born. A third grader. *sigh* I can't believe how grown he looks here, so mature. He totally has my eyes, and though I'm smirking here, my smile too. I just am very thankful he took his grammas nose! :) ![]() Joshua has been trying to give the tough guy look in pictures recently. You should have seen our roller coaster picture from Cedar Point last week where we channeled our inner gangsta. As you can see, the tough charade doesn't last long and we both end up giggling. ![]() Here's a shot from Nataley after a storm the other day. We were driving home and I just HAD to pull over to a side road so she could get out and take some pics of the funky clouds. ![]() And one more photo from Josh. He took this for the 'Fair' category of the photo competition at the fair. It may technically not have been from the fair, but I think it surely captures the essence of what us Hattery's think the fair is all about - shaved ice! Well, all summer is about shaved ice. Elisha and I worked together to make sure we got a bunch of very colorful flavors in the cups for the photos. FABULOUS NEWS!!! August 5, 2010 Well I'm excited, can ya tell?!?! Yesterday I was invited to have a two month exhibit of my work at the Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory!!! Each year they extend an invitation to up to twelve photographers, painters, sculptors, and other such artist to have an exhibit there... and they invited ME!!! *giggle* Obviously it's not my 'portrait' work. No one wants to go look at a bunch of pictures of someone else's weddings or someone else's newborn. It's more of my whimsical, artsy stuff. ![]() All pieces will be available for purchase. I've also been toying around for awhile with doing a second book, and I'm thinking this is a great way to give me the extra kick in the backside I needed to get it done. Half of me wants to do a large hidden objects book, but because of the size it will need to be it will be really expensive and I'm not sure how well it'd sell. I might just have to go with a gift size type book. We'll see! Feel free to convince me one way or another. ![]() In other news, I'm back to black. The other blog look was just too blah for me. I knew it wouldn't last long. I like the dramatic colors that pop against the black background. ![]() And finally... just a silly little shot of my eldest son Christopher, who thought he could look like he was holding up storm clouds. *smirk* He's so fun! Let's Go Wildcats!!! August 4, 2010 It was a nice suprise when out of the blue I got an inquiry from a Wildcat senior. Now of course my kids were thrilled, thinking she must know Troy Bolton, Gabriella, or even the nasty Sharpay. Well this Wildcat was from Ohio, not Arizona, sorry kids. I was still thrilled though as she was an absolute blast to photograph! ![]() ![]() ![]() Rainy Morning Game August 3, 2010 Joshua is my morning child. He wakes up ready to go at about 6:30 every morning. It was rainy, so he slept in til 7 - woo hoo! I'm not a morning person really, but it gives us some nice time to ourselves. Today he decided to let Cuddly join with us in a game of Nintendo Monopoly. I couldn't help but feel as if I was being ganged up on when Josh wouldn't make Cuddly pay when landing on his properties, and he always slipped him some extra cash when he needed some. ![]() Your Turn for Butterflies!!! August 2, 2010 Well the world famous whimsy pics are done for me, and now it's your turn! From nearly 30 costumes down to 8 left and I've ebay-ed the remaining sets for your bidding pleasure. Hattery Photography on Ebay The costumes left range from 9 months to size 8 girls and are in just about every color scheme... except green. Green doesn't show up so well in the woods ;) Here's just a shot of each costume that's up for auctions... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Happy Bidding! |
