January Exhibit
December 18th I entered a jurried exhibit once again at Art Space in Lima. Last year I got only one entry in to the show (a jurried exhibit is where you can submit pieces, but a team of judges will decide what really is good enough to hang, and what gets kicked out). I felt like I was definately thrown suddenly into a much bigger pond and I became the small fish. When I saw the quality of the other pieces I didn't feel bad though as they were simply outstanding. HOWEVER... I am pleased to announce that I will have five of the five pieces I submitted on exhibit at the January show! :) :) :) Here's what will be at Art Space... Children's Christmas Play December 16th Wow I think this is the absolute longest I've ever not blogged! What can I say... it's the holidays! Recently the kids took part in a Christmas play. Josh, the wallflower, wanted nothing to do with this at first. We forced him to attend practices anyway, with imparting the full knowledge in him that he did not have to take part come play day. He decided he would, and sang his heart out. ![]() ***UPDATE*** Joshua also got to sing one of the songs to the play on the PA system at his school during morning announcements on Friday. Awwww... I was there to help with the kindy class and got to see him leaving the office BEAMING with pride. Christopher got a solo that he'd been practicing for ages. Yes, I got tears in my eyes when he sang it with his angelic high pitched little boy voice. So sweet and cute! ![]() Then there's Nataley, who I'm certain thought the entire production was all for her enjoyment and amusement. She sang.... occassionally, and tried to copy the motions the chior director was doing. She was... umm... very animated. Pretty much, my clone. ![]() Spring 2010 Whimsy Sessions December 9th After my fourth inquiry into scheduling a whimsy session for spring I thought I ought to get on the ball and get things together. INTRODUCING the 2010 project - Butterfly Brilliance ![]() Ooohs, Ahhhhs, and OUCH December 8th I can't talk so well, and I'm a bit grumpy. I had three wisdom teeth pulled and my jaw hurts. :( But nothing a little pain meds can't solve, thankfully the dear ol doc prescribed some for me before I even asked for any! and though they make me tired and a bit loopy, overall I'm doing just fine and enjoying this time special of year. But, on the happier side, I got my house decorated for the holidays! Horray!!! I love it and I can't imagine what took my so long to get everything up and ready for the holidays. Yeah, life and all that probably had something to do with it ;) Our first Christmas married my husband and I didn't have a Christmas tree. But that didn't stop me from getting some ornaments after the holidays on clearanced. I found a few I loved at Macy's in silver tones, and that started the tradition of a silver tree. Each year I add a few more to the tree - this year features poinsettas and words I painted to match. It's the older ones however that always tend to make me smile. I'm surprised, year after year, how comforting it is to see the familiar ornaments making their way onto the tree. ![]() ![]() The boys room houses all the homemade ornaments and colorful fun ones. The get to decorate this tree by themselves and love showing off the ones they've made from school in years past ![]() Nataley borrowed some of my favorite ornaments from my hot pink and black tree this year for her room. I guess sharring is one of those things moms just do ;) It's easy when she ooohs and ahhhs over shoes and purse ornaments and my shopping ladies. Her room also is home to some pink and purple wrapped presents. Only silver presents are allowed downstairs! A Visit With Santa December 5th My new little friend was extremely shy and perhaps a little nervous as well as she came to get pictures for holiday cards today. Her mom dressed up for a bit to help ease the nerves. It seemed to work wonders as she was walking about and exploring the studio. ![]() Torture Chamber Revisited December 2nd I was so fortunate to get permission to return to this old building and bring my dear Alyssa with me. Long time blog readers know she's nearly a member of the family, and when I have something new I want to play around with (such as old buildings) where photos are concerned, she's my muse! ![]() The shoot however was nearly a full fledged disaster as I dropped my brand new, less then a week old, super duper (and expensive) flash that I purchased for upcoming weddings, not once, but TWICE. The second time parts really went flying. Add that to the ever dissapearing light and we had very little time to shoot. Oh, and poor Alyssa was freeeeeezing too. I was cold with layers of clothes, so I KNOW she was cold with her thin evening gown on. (nothing like taking a designer gown and sitting it on a damp, dirty bench) I will also add my meds from the dentist from earlier that day had worn off and I was in pain, and limping because I moved a piece of furniture I shouldn't have. hahahaha... oh the fun we have! ![]() PX90 Update December 1st Last week Christopher helped me take my 30 day photos at the studio. I wanted, along with the borring front, side, back pics, get some with doing some yoga. I *heart* yoga. Unfortunately it was once again proven that it's more then just a nice camera that makes a photographer, despite his best efforts and everything set up for him :) Also my form wasn't nearly as good as I thought it was. I seriously thought my back was straight in my boats, and my bows had my chest much further off the floor... and don't even get me started on what I look like with my reverse warrior. I felt much closer to the ground in my lunges then the pictures showed. ![]() But I have lost 8lbs... and promptly gained two back with thanksgiving vacation. :) I am much more flexible, have more stamina, and upper body strength. Not where I want to be yet, not even close. My goals keep changing as I continue on in the program. I keep wanting more, more, more! (or less, less, less if we're thinking weight and body fat) I have no doubt that after I finish the program I'm going to start over again. Perhaps I'll even follow the diet a bit better ;) |
