Brothers June 6, 2011  I got to take lots of silhouettes this week of these brothers. They were... umm... ornery, but lots of fun! Super Sweetness with Lemonade June 4, 2011 I love my kids. Anyone who follows the blog of my life on facebook knows we have LOTS of fun. But come'on, fun is alos a lot of work. And when Nataley wanted to do a lemonade stand, for months on end, I kept putting it off, putting it off, knowing that I would be the one doing the one cutting up lemons, getting the drinks together, all for a few bucks at best that my kids would spend on something rediculous. But finally I caved and the results were so much more fabulous than I could have ever imagined.  The boys decided they should go out to the corner of our road, where a very busy road is, with signs, to advertise and get people to drive down our teenie tiny road. It worked marvelously. Well you can just imagine how people reacted to this. Some people were so shocked to see a lemonade stand that they were tranported back to yesteryear in a wave of nostalgia. One older woman was nearly teary eyed and said she didn't know how long it'd been since she'd seen one. Then the customers were greeted by Nataley, who to my delight and pride, decided that they should give all their earnings to poor people in Africa. The boys quickly agreed this was an awesome idea. People were so generous, kind, thoughtful, etc... They ended up raising a crazy amt of cash, and promptly delivered it to our youth pastor who's headed to Africa this summer with the youth group on a missions trip. I love my kids. They are so awesome. It'd be so easy to see the large amts of cash and think of a toy they'd been wanting for ages, the swimming pool they desire, a trip to disney world... lol, ok, they didn't raise THAT MUCH. But it was more than I ever would have guessed, and sure made me realize good people really are inside. Happy Birthday Joshua! June 2, 2011 HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOSHUA!!! Josh turned 8 today and I believe had a marvelous day - except for having to go to school. He decided that school shouldn't be required when its your birthday.  Joshua is a wonderful kid and I'm so thrilled to be his momma. He's very intelligent, full of laughs, and just simply a joy. He loves Wii, reading, water fights, and being cuddled up watching movies.  Fire Breathing Momma June 1, 2011 If your kids came home Wednesday and said Mrs Hattery was breathing fire today, they weren't trying to tell you what a horrible mood I was in. It was for Bible Study & Prayer Club, and we were using 1 John 1:5, ''God is light, and in Him there is no darkness.'' to show that year we might have a little bit of light, but with God, there is ample light.  Needless to say, we went outside this week. The Art Room just doesn't seem to be a good place for a big ball of fire. I have certainly learned that after blowing fire balls, going in to prayer time doesn't exactly make for a good decision. In fact, having any type of meaningful conversation afterwards is next to impossible. I will guess though that this was definately something the kids will remember until the next bible club in the fall! |
