Eleyna - A Whimsy Session May 17th, 2010

Eleyna was feeling a bit nervous about her photo session yesterday. I facebooked her mom and let her know that not only did I have my famous treasure chest (filled to capacity with presents, candy and goodies), but I had bought her flowers to match her butterfly costume. It was enough to get her to come visit me and I *think* she had a great time.

Eleyna doesn't like spider, ant, or just about any other creepie crawlies. She does like ice cream, Jolly Ranchers, and her yellow flowers.

Thanks for coming Eleyna!!!

Etta Jane - A Whimsy Session May 16th, 2010

It was such a pleasure to visit with Miss Etta Jane again! Last time was winter and I think she very much enjoyed getting to explore outside while we took her pictures.

This was my first time shooting at Carter Park in Bellefontaine. Until today I had only seen it from Google Earth, but it seemed like a nice, untouched spot. It was Perfect!!!

...and one last sweet moment of Daddy helping Etta with her hair band.

30 May 12th, 2010

So I'm thirty now. It's not as dramatic as it was for my husband a dozen years ago (lol, j/k! not quite that long ago) but it certainly has left me reflective, and looking to the future.

Ten years ago I was still somewhat of a newlywed, a new home owner, employee and college student. Today I'm about to celebrate my 11th wedding anniversary (AND still in love), own a different home, self employed, and still learning. Ten years from now I will be ready to celebrate 21 years of marriage (AND still much in love), own a different home with a studio on the property (I hate paying rent), hope to have my master's in photography, and still learning.

Ten years ago I was baby crazy, desperate to get pregnant. Yes, the biological clock began to tick a tad early for me. Today I have a near 6, near 7, and 8 year old kids that are just marvelous. They are all so different, and so wonderful to be around. They are healthy, happy, and, in my oh so humble opinion, the smartest, best looking, marvelous children on Earth. Ten years form now I'll have three teenagers, one ready to graduate high school. Oh my heart hurts just thinking of them leaving home. :(

Half of the time I feel like I shouldn't be 30 yet. The other half of the time I'm surprised it hasn't come sooner.

I like who I am. I like my life. I'm happy. I think this 30 thing will work out just fine.

Savannah & Jenna - A Whimsy Session May 11th, 2010

Oh these poor girls are so brave! Last year they came for pictures and it was sooooo cold. When savanah's mom wanted to schedule pictures again this year we made sure to wait until a few weeks later into the year, and honestly with such a fabulous Spring we've had I had no worries. Yet when I was watching the weather and knew it'd be pouring down rain today, I rescheduled to girls for last night. Yup, it was cold again. They did so good though pretending to be warm butterflies fluttering around the forest.

Still Life May 10th, 2010

I brought this old frame out to the woods for a whimsy session and thought it was just meant to be hanging on the trunk. I wish the flowers were bright, but oh well. I can't tell if I like it, or if its too weird for me, lol.

Josh & Dee - another 'love' session *snikker* May 8th, 2010

I LOVE to spy on my kids. You can see their school playground from our house, and whenever I'm driving off to do errands I make a point to go that direction (not much trouble, one way street and all) and see what they're up to. Now I know Josh has boy friends, but on the playground it's nearly always a girl I see him with. This gal has enjoyed Joshua's company since the first day of kindergarten, and I think 90% of the time she's part of his playground group. For some reason for indoor recess (due to poor weather) it tends to be a little blonde girl he's with, but outdoors is the brunette. Hmmm... But that's just what I see. I'm sure there's plenty of times he's with his guy friends too (I hope!)

Some people don't think men and women can be 'just friends.' Does that count for boys and girls too? Apparrently not as Josh is very quick to point out that he and the girl below are ''JUST FRIENDS''

I got to work at the Air Extreme event the school had this weekend, where each grade level got an hour or so to play on big, fun, inflatables. My shifts were for kindy and 1st grade, which is when I took these shots.

Stephanie & Donovan - Love Is In The Air May 5th, 2010

Get it, get it? LOVE is in the air? Oh yeah... lame. But its getting late, I have a cold, and my brain is telling me I'm hilareous.

Yesterday evening I had a marvelous night with Stephanie and Donovan, a couple who I'm photographing at their wedding next summer. They are such a cute couple, and wow does he ever adore her. Sure, she loves him too, but he's so smittened that it made me giggle.

I had so much fun! CONGRATULATIONS you two! I hope the rest of your wedding planning goes super smoothly!

Hiking Pics May 3rd, 2010

Here are a few more shots from yesterdays rainy day hike through Lindenwood. I think one of the best visuals of the trip, after that of the smiles on my families faces, and the sight of a porta potty at the end of a particularly long trail, was the thousands and thousands of wild flowers throughout the woods.

I have to admit it was a bit gross and a bit facinating, but there were probably over 100,000 eggs in the water. Granted, most of these will never become tadpoles, and even less become frogs, but seeing the eggs on a seaweed type ribbon under the water was quite interesting. I tried catching a few frogs. They were too fast. Hubby told the kids to watch closely as Mommy was about to fall into the water. (I didn't)

There were two geese at the pond in the middle of the woods, and two more at the river by the fort, that then followed us into the fort area. Nataley was convinced it was the same geese all along and they were following our family. I wouldn't be too surprised - we do have fun!

Rainy Day Sunday May 2nd, 2010

What do you do when it's going to be raining nearly all day on a Sunday? Get on your worst shoes and go hiking with your family! If you get too muddy, then clean off at a parks' fountain.

At first their was some question whether or not they could actually hike through the sludge and muck, but once they got in they had a blast with it. I was slipping all over the place and found it a small miracle that I didn't end up with mud all over my backside.

At the end of the hike, Chris with the kids. Not sure if Josh was really that exhausted, or he just wanted to be silly for the picture.

A little bit of cold water and he was wide awake again!

My oldest child is 8 1/2. You can tell, right?

And if you haven't gotten wet enough, keeping in mind we've already hiked in rain, you can always just lay down in middle of the fountain.

Hubby took a picture of the kids and I too. It's nice to actually show me in a shot to proove to the kids years from now that I wasn't a non existant parent. I was just the one behind the lens.

We got so wet, but that didn't stop us from walking around the Forts (of Fort Wayne) to dry a bit, and then hit Pizza Hut on the way home.

We're very anti-litter/green/tree hugger types. I always was pro-earth, which of course sounds rediculous as we should all be that way. But my kids put me to shame at how active they are. It's not at all uncommon for them to want to grab a bag and go looking for trash. So when we saw that there was a bunch of balloons stuck in some bushes we had to bring them home for proper disposal. Because, after all, it's such a sacrifice for a little boy to have to carry a dozen balloons around while he walks :)

Tomorrow I'll upload the more nature type pics I took from the hike

Newest Pets May 1st, 2010

Fish certainly arent a new addition to the family. We've had plenty of goldfish in the past that have met their demise in various ways - once when I was cleaning out the bowl and one went down the drain, one poisoned when I bug bombed the house and forgot to remove it, one, as it turns out, doesn't like Van Wert water.

So while at Walmart last night it was not shocking when Nataley wanted to look at the fish, or that she wanted a fish. And when she used the cell to ask Daddy for a fish? No shocker that he said yes. She was so thrilled, and we actually ended up with three little ones.

Their names are Speedy China Fish, Orangey, and just Speedy.

Naturally you can't be apart of the Hattery family without your first portrait being taken within hours. :)
