My Little Vacation
May 12, 2011
A few months ago it was decided that I was going to be taking a trip just for me, on my own, no kids, no family, etc. Ok ok ok, so I guess it could be a 'working' vacation since I certainly was working along the way and there as well. But it was to be my summer vacation/mother's day/birthday present.

I wish I could say it was all as I had hoped for. I wish I could tell you I relished in the peace and quiet, enjoyed the fine foods, great conversations, five star hotel... and truth is I did enjoy it all... but wow, I was so homesick. And how couldn't I be when my kids helped pack me with a trinket box full of my favorite flavor jolly ranchers and a flower to make me smile on the night stand?

I got to take pictures of beautiful people. I got to try things out of my normal comfort zone. It was fun... but wow... I missed my kids.

The weather was delightful. The scenes, haute couture, high fashion photography (think ANTM stuff) being mentored by the top of my profession... but wow... I missed my husband.

And yes of course, staying in a real, grown up hotel with no children, or children's accomodations, in sight. Lucious views for my eyes, everyone there to care for my every want and desire, and a huge room that half my house could fit in to... but wow... I missed my own things.

So yeah, I cut my trip in half. I'm pathetic, lol, I know. But the truth is, I LOVE MY LIFE. I LOVE being a wife, and I adore being a mother.

I came home to a water party - you know the kind. Where you follow the signs written on the sidewalk around your house in chalk until there's a stop sign and your kids dump water on you and then attack from behind with water guns? Appropriately enough, it just so happens that the presents I brought them home were all water related as well :)

And then once inside there were pink streamers decorating the foyer. I also had a huge painted sign greeting me, along with the huge hugs and kisses from my favorite people on earth.

High fashion? Who needs it?! Destination weddings? No thank you! A plush room in a posh hotel? All I want is to fall asleep in bed with three kids cuddled up around me, and a husband amazing enough to sleep on the floor rather than disturb them.

Soccer Stars

My two soccer stars had their first game of the season today. The final score was 1-0, with Christopher making the winning goal. Joshua is an exceptional midfielder, that unfortunately all too often gets overlooked and isn't really the glory, but as his mother I will of course point out how great he is.
