Alex - Class of 2012 September 30, 2011 Well I'm gonna miss photographing Alex! We did three small sessions together for her senior pictorial for winter, summer and now fall. She's not only a senior rep (see her for a $50 coupon) but my kids FAVORITE babysitter. I hope she remembers us when she's famous! ![]() ... ![]() ![]() Molly - Class of 2012 September 26, 2011 Molly was so easy going and such a pleasure to photograph - not to mention she's so photogenic it'd be hard to get a bad shot of her. Here's just a few sneak peeks from her weekend session. Enjoy Molly and feel free to copy them for your use. The rest will be coming within a few days! ![]() ![]() ![]() Lil' Miss Janea September 24, 2011 It was a cold and rainy fall morning here in Ohio and I was absolutely thrilled to get a reprive in the rain at the same time I was driving out to Janea's house. She is such a doll and was so much fun to photograph. Looking forward to getting my lens on her baby brother here in a few months too!!! ![]() Sometimes you just know Mom and Dad are doing something nuts behind you as you shoot. Janea's parents were awesome about getting her happy and keeping her entertained. ![]() The sepia toned shot reminds me so very much of one I took of Nataley four or five years ago. It swept a ton of awards and has been a piece of art that I have always loved to own. ![]() If you squint real hard you'll find a little itty bitty belly on momma. I have a feeling even in November when she feels like she's ready to burst she's still going to be a skinny minnie. The thing about blogs..... September 23, 2011 The thing about blogs is, even when you do the coding and get it all together on your computer, you still have to upload it to your server. Easy right? But I am very forgetful and yall have my appologies for keeping you in suspense over the next blog entry. But hey, this is as good a time as any to show off the new photo of my family from the fall. Don't look too close or you'll see my wireless remote for the camera taking the shots. Its so hard to be in front of the lens and not behind!!! ![]() 2012 Wedding Sale! September 21, 2011 I have some openings for July - December weddings for next year! As I start booking 2013 weddings its a great time for an awesome sale on your package! Please click for a larger image. ![]() Great job Hattery Kids! September 18, 2011 It's competition season for photography and in full swing with the kids competing not just against each other, but against me too in most cases. I didn't win too much this year for the Wassenberg show - and that's fine, I didn't have anything that I thought would pop with the judges - but Joshua did amazing! ![]() This was a huge shock to me. Even though I was very proud of this shot - there's actually catchlights in the birds eyes - I never expected to win anything in the animal category. I think it was just different enough to stand out of the mostly summer type pics, and low and behold it took first place and the Wilber Hartman Award for color! ![]() And my snowflake shot, entered in Special Effects, got a 2nd place in the category. ![]() But Joshua is the rich boy :) First of all, youth not only have to compete against adults to be one of only 150 photos for the show, but if they make it in to the show then they compete against professional and experienced photographers for the awards. The lilly shot of Joshua's here we printed in both color and black and white, but we really thought the b/w was much more awe inspiring and had a better chance of making the exhibit. Not only did it win, he won two prizes - the Wilber Hartman Award for b/w, and 2nd place for youth. WTG JOSH!!! ![]() Amazingly all but one of Joshua's entries made it in to the show. I don't doubt that ''My Alien Brother'' is his favorite entry and he can't wait for the title to be in the catalog. ![]() I held my breath non stop until the judges finished kicking out pictures from the show, and both Christopher (above) and Nataley (below) had a photo make it in the show! *phew* That will certainly help things at the opening reception! ![]() Some more of Poe September 13, 2011 Sweet Poe is quickly becoming a marvelous addition to our family here. He's warming up to us nicely and is even showing lots of promise with his litter box training! ![]() ![]() ![]() Chris is 10! September 9, 2011 Christopher is 10, and wow what a ten years its been. My eldest child instantly brought joy to my life... followed by years of sleepless nights, stress, tears, and more laughter and happiness than I thought imaginable. He has become an amazing person that I am so proud to have as my son. And as much as I'm shocked that I could possibly be old enough for a ten year old, I'm excited to see how he grows into the young man God has destined him to be. ![]() At ten, Christopher loves acting, soccer, playing with friends, legos, star wars, and all things boyish. He still has that fabulous, though often unruled, red hair, and some darn cute freckles too. ![]() Christopher loves playing defense, but is really quite good at almost any position on the field. On his actual birthday, a school night, we were suppose to have a soccer game and didn't really schedule much of anything. It ended up being rescheduled due to a mass amt of water so he got to stay home playing Stratego with his brother. ![]() But the real fun came about 10am the next day. The weather cleared, and I pulled Christopher from school to get his real birthday present from us. A fun flight. The wonderful pilot let Christopher do the preflight checklist with him. Here he is teaching Christopher what to check on with the fuel - debris and water drops. ![]() And Christopher got to check the fuel in the next wing by himself. All clear! ![]() Of course momma took the back seat - and I even leant him my old headset :) ![]() Christopher was at the controls and was actually giving us a very smooth flight. ![]() I thought he got a little close to wind turbines, in my humble opinion, but that's just me being a backseat flyer. ![]() Thankfully Christopher loved his present - the BEST birthday present ever he says. But soon it was back to school and back to 'work' for me - I had the best birthday party ever to attend to! ![]() Which was ANGRY BIRDS Theme!!! We're a bit angry bird obsessed here at the moment. ![]() The best part of the party, or most original perhaps, was the hundred green pig balloons we made for the sole purpose of destroying them later. For those familiar with the game, you know you get 5000 points for each pig you get. Therefore, each balloon pig had 5000 point paper inside. ![]() I blew all the balloons up, and the kids helped make them in to pigs after school. ![]() Instead of doing prizes for bingo, or a pinata (though I would have LOVED to have had the time to make a green pig pinata) we had a prize table where they could 'buy' prizes according to how many point they got from popping pigs. Prizes went from 5000 - 25000 points, and while everyone had plenty of cool prizes, I should have made the prizes be much more expensive. Some kids had 80,000 points to spend! ![]() And so thus included the big ten birthday bash. Presents are scattered, the dozens of hellium balloons are hardly floating, and I'm still finding juice boxes all over my house. But the kids all had fun and Christopher will always remember his 10th birthday as being a totally awesome experience. Being double digits is super cool I'm told. Hello to Poe September 7, 2011 There once was a family, who one day when it was sunny Went to the Fair, and brought home a bunny - Christopher, age 9 And with the composition of that little poem by the eldest Hattery child, the name for our newest family member suddenly clicked - Poe. Yes, after the dark poet that I've adored for years. ![]() We said a prayer that the kids would be in agreement as to which bunny would come home to live with us. ![]() And with Poe the decision was unanimous and instantaneous! ![]() ![]() ![]() He quickly melted all of our hearts. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Poe is 7 weeks old. Even though I'm sure it was traumatic for him to leave momma bunny for the first time to come home with us, he has been well loved and cared for. He's still a bit skiddish, and we anticipate that for another week or so, but is already eating out of our hands and getting closer to cuddling on our laps. And better yet, he seems to have a very firm grasp on the litter box thing already!!! I suspect its getting a younger bunny that's helping this time. We are so happy he has come to live with us! Safari Boys September 4, 2011 For a top secret Christmas present for her kids, a customer brought her grandkids over this summer for portraits. The girls had some darling butterfly whimsy pics, and the boys were all decked out in a safari theme!!! And it was sweltering too - truly felt like a jungle out there :) ![]() ![]() The Cook Family September 1, 2011 Our family was fortunate enough to get to know a wonderful family... and now they're moving away. It's great, I'm happy for them, but I wish I could have met them a couple of years ago and gotten to know them better. On the brighter side, I got to get pics with their two sweet girls last night. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
