Quick Peeks
December 27 th Went back to work earlier than I anticipated for one of those spur of the moment photo shoots. :) Enjoy your sneak peeks! ![]() I love pictures like this, where you can see the mixture of mischevious and innocence all over a toddler's face. Isn't he adorable?
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! December 27 th Like most parent blogging around the holidays, exhaustion has surely set in. Lots of holiday parties, traveling, hosting, and of course, presents!!! The kids have been pretty good, though I don't think I'll really be getting my house back to order until AFTER they are back to school!!! I didn't do many pictures, but did want to capture the kids when they found that the family cat, Franklina, had a present to open. I thought all three might want to see what was inside for her... ![]() Does Nataley scare anyone else with the scissors? ![]() ''A Wii!!!!!!!!!!!!!'' Chris exclaimed... and then instant confusion set in. WHY does the CAT get a Wii?!?!?! Sheesh, I was just sort of trying to be funny - so no one child could claim the Wii as their own.
It probably goes without mentioning that the Wii is a hit. I for one am loving playing with the kids. I can already tell I need two more Wii remotes, and we need to go back and buy this Six Flags game that has ski ball. Party Time! December 23rd Today was Nataley's Christmas Tea Party for her girlfriends. It went much better than I had hoped. With a room full of 5-9 year old girls I was worried about fighting or uncomfortable moments, but everyone got along wonderfully. And hopefully this will be one of those things Nataley remembers she got to do for years to come. The girls each had a special dress or tutu set to wear, satin gloves, necklaces, tiaras, and so forth. After they were dressed, they got pictures taken, and then Alyssa (who was helping me) ran off to walmart to print out their pictures. So by the time the moms came to pick the girls back up they had their own portrait to take home with a photo frame they decorated themselves. ![]() I think you can see all over her face how Nataley just LOVED having all her little friends over for the party. She's been looking forward to this for ages and I'm not sure she even realizes what was happening after her party. How suprising it will be for her to see it's Christmas Eve tomorrow and time for another party :) I'm sure the boys will be able to remind her. Baby Josiah December 22nd I was so excited to photograph baby Josiah today! He was so small and adorable and squirmy and squishy and all those other great newborn things. I was thrilled when Josiah decided he needed a nice long nap and let us pretty much do anything we could possible care to do. We had him hanging in a pouch, naked and adjusting him around this way and that to cover up parts I don't like to photograph, and even in a boot. I think he may have enjoyed the boot the most. I'd imagine the cosiness made him feel like mommy was holding him. Perhaps I should have sent the boot home with her for when she needs her arms back :) ![]() ![]() ![]() I know driving over to the studio when you're lacking sleep must have been difficult, but I'm so glad Josiah's mommy was able to make the trip. THANK YOU! Family Tubing December 21st Sometimes it's fun to blow off your plans for a spur of the moment something or other... For us it was tubing at Mad River Mountain. It was Nataley and my first time and at first she was very hesitant (as in bawling at the top of the hill and I had to force her to go down). But then it got a very big thumbs up. The boys were almost non stop for our three hours of tubing - with Chris taking a short break to chat it up with some older girls :) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Is that a look of pure exhaustion or what?! January Exhibit December 18th I entered a jurried exhibit once again at Art Space in Lima. Last year I got only one entry in to the show (a jurried exhibit is where you can submit pieces, but a team of judges will decide what really is good enough to hang, and what gets kicked out). I felt like I was definately thrown suddenly into a much bigger pond and I became the small fish. When I saw the quality of the other pieces I didn't feel bad though as they were simply outstanding. HOWEVER... I am pleased to announce that I will have five of the five pieces I submitted on exhibit at the January show! :) :) :) Here's what will be at Art Space... ![]() Graduating Gossips of 2010 - Special Effects The last show this was one judge really loved it, the other wasn't so keen. He suggested that instead of the stark white background I put some color. I redid it and submitted this new one with a slightly textured background. ![]() Wooded Whimsy - Special Effects Besides the texture, nearly every pixel of this image has been altered with stamping. Some more obvious, like the butterflies that pop out of the picture, but most is more subtle. Oh and the fact that the costume on the right was actually green, but I don't think anyone could tell that. ![]() Butterfly Girl with Spring Blossoms - Portrait Taken from the 2009 Forest Secrets project. Of course I want all my photographs to have clarity, great composition, and beautiful coloring, but I also want the people to view them and have feelings envoked. With this image I think most grown woman would look at this and either think their daughter would LOVE to get pictures like this, or wow, wouldn't they have loved to have been this little girl. Seeing as the two judges for this competition were both older men, I sort of figured it would have to be just the clarity, composition and coloring that would get this picture into the exhibit. ****UPDATE**** I'm suppose to say that what was written above previous that I was mistaken. ![]() Girl at Window Daydreaming - Black and White Well OF COURSE ''The'' picture of Nataley would have to be one of my entries. It's racked up so many awards - from local to international, that I gotta admit, I love showing it off. And so does Nataley. She sees it and says, ''THAT'S THE PICTURE FROM THE PAPER!'' (after winning a particular award it was in a few newpapers, and she carried them around for days showing people). ![]() Soybean Field - Landscape Taken for a contest with ''Harvest'' as the theme, I sort of fell in love with the picture... though I'm not a fan of the bean on the far right. I think I need to clone that out if I were to enter it again. Children's Christmas Play December 16th Wow I think this is the absolute longest I've ever not blogged! What can I say... it's the holidays! Recently the kids took part in a Christmas play. Josh, the wallflower, wanted nothing to do with this at first. We forced him to attend practices anyway, with imparting the full knowledge in him that he did not have to take part come play day. He decided he would, and sang his heart out. ![]() ***UPDATE*** Joshua also got to sing one of the songs to the play on the PA system at his school during morning announcements on Friday. Awwww... I was there to help with the kindy class and got to see him leaving the office BEAMING with pride. Christopher got a solo that he'd been practicing for ages. Yes, I got tears in my eyes when he sang it with his angelic high pitched little boy voice. So sweet and cute! ![]() Then there's Nataley, who I'm certain thought the entire production was all for her enjoyment and amusement. She sang.... occassionally, and tried to copy the motions the chior director was doing. She was... umm... very animated. Pretty much, my clone. ![]() Spring 2010 Whimsy Sessions December 9th After my fourth inquiry into scheduling a whimsy session for spring I thought I ought to get on the ball and get things together.
