Change Is Coming May 31, 2010

Due to the crazy number of photo sessions coming up in June, and because I could never stop gushing about my children, I will be going from breaking months up in two part, to weekly for the blog. I just gotta try to get the number of pictures on the blog at one time down a bit :)

But those aren't the only changes around here!

For one, Nataley is nearly a 1st grader. She had her kindergarten program a week ago where she got to sing a song about her sound, ''ou.'' Of course you know she stole the show, in my oh so humble opinion. I told her to sing nice and loud and into the mic, and she made sure the whole school could hear her!

We also had our first baseball game - EVER - for the boys. It was rediculously hot, but they did great. And won... or at least that's what Josh said. I thought they tied ;) The league is very low stress and casual - five strikes and your out, four innings, and a max number of five runs per inning. Josh ended up running home four times (once per inning) but poor Chris managed to be up to bat right when the team got to their fifth run and only made it to first base each time. I am so proud of them to sticking to baseball as they really didn't like it at first. WTG BOYS!

Also this past week I got to go to the zoo with my triplets. Actually is was with the kindergarteners and my group just happened to all be blond and wearing the same tshirt. We had sooo much fun!!!

Joshua had his seventh birthday party this weekend. We played ''Put The Hat On THe Josh'' instead of tails and donkeys. We also had over 150 water balloons to help cool us off... and somehow when I was trying to give the strawberries water a lot of kids got in the way of the hose.

And finally, we got to visit with some family who lives simply too far away :( The kids had sooo much fun with their cousins. The slip-n-slide was the huge hit of the day. My kids slept so well that night :)

Ashley & Kiel - Engagement Session May 29th, 2010

I met Ashley last year. She has probably the most sought after wedding date this year and I've turned away soooo many brides when I found out their date was September 25th.

We went out to the woods for a bit of a funky little shot with mirrors that she'd seen once on my blog :) I have to admit, this picture REALLy messes with my eyes when I look at it, but Ilove the results!

Little Miss Madison May 27th, 2010

Madison came for a visit yesterday for her butterfly whimsy session. She was all smiles and thrilled to pick out the same tutu her cousin had worn last week!

She was just a little bit silly...

a little bit of sassy...

And a whole lot of sweetness!

Thanks for coming Madison dear!!! Enjoy your pictures! :)

Rainy Day, again... May 27th, 2010

On the way to the big city today I took the road less traveled and found myself approaching a storm. After another look I saw not ony was there a storm, but a stunning rainbow too :) Can't help but smile when ya see it!

Whimsy x2 May 24th, 2010

I got to take pictures with Madi and Maddie today! Yes, same girl, but double the session with two costumes to prance around in! She was so much fun to photograph, and was such a kind, thoughtful, and appreciative little girl. Even though we nearly melted in the heat (back in the woods we had no wind) she kept thanking me over and over again and even invited me to come visit her.

I couldn't resist playing around a little today after the session with two of Maddie's pictures to show 'both Maddies' on the log together.

Thank YOU so much Maddie for visiting with me thismorning! I hope when you're playing dress up with your costumes you'll always remember having a great time getting your photos taken with me.

Zoo Trip May 22nd, 2010

I swear I checked the weather yesterday and it said partly cloudy, no rain! But nonetheless, we were drenched just moments into our trip to the zoo. Rain began on the way over. We didn't even get to park near the zoo at all because the little stream nearby flooded so much that there was no parking lot. There was only a large river with rushing water, and large equipment trying to navigate the water (did that actually work? Who's idea was this?)

It's hard to see the perspective in this photo, but this is one of those large trucks, not a smaller one you can rent for home improvement projects.

The kids had fun anyway, especially with this being our first trip of the year. We've been zoo members for I dunno how many years now, but its so worth it - especially to have ''free'' entertainment in the middle of the summer.

I thought this little baby was cute - cuddling with Mom and Dad trying to stay dry.

When I saw this picture I was surprised to see that Josh still had dry spots in the back of his hair!

I think it must be the colors, but I've had a thing for peacocks for a long time now and almost always have to snap a portrait.

Josh, the six year old, has been taking quite the interest in photography recently too. Mostly because he wants to win money in contests. Right now he's working just with composition and focus. We'll work on exposure later. But I still thought he did very nicely on this lion shot above.

Weeds In A Field May 22nd, 2010

On our way to the zoo Nataley was enthralled by the fields full of beautiful wild flowers (aka, weeds). Unbeknownst to us, Fort Wayne got tons and tons of rain, so many of these fields were also flooded over.

On the way home though I found a field that was 'only' a mud pit, but no large amounts of standing water.

And then I let her loose to go to pick to her hearts content...

...and play a little hide and go seek too...

...and by the end she had an arm full to bring back to the van and now are decorating our kitchen table in Mommy's super expensive vase. :)

Butterfly Surprise May 21st, 2010

Yesterday I got a surprise call from Indiana asking about scheduling a butterfly session. It turned out Mom had today off, and I had an open spot, and so I got to do a surprise butterfly shoot! Most of the whimsy sessions are scheduled many months in advance. I always sell out, though this year I'm adding an additional month I decided, so I do have openings still. It was fun having an impromptu session like today (if 24 hours notice can be considered impromptu).

This girl LOVES her gumballs! We did some studio shots with my gumball machine before getting dressed up in the costume of her choice. My studio is like a fairytale land right now, with one long wall filled with costumes for the 2010 whimsy sessions, and another wall with the 'normal' tutus, boas, pettiskirts and the like.

Snacks and Slugs May 19th, 2010

Nataley was very excited that we got to use our garden for the snack today. Granted, the pinapple and peaches were grown elsewhere, but the spinnach and strawberries were all us.

After the full serving of fresh cut fruit, they get a full serving with lots of nutrients in that yummy spinnach. We don't have too many strawberries yet - they're ''june'' berries, so I tell the kids anything we get in May is like a bonus.

Unfortunately we are having some bug issues with our beans in the garden. Slugs in particular. I think I'd rather give up on the beans then use some kind of pesticide. However, I may have a solution anyway in my daughter. You may recall from previous summers how fond Nataley is of worms, mice, ants, and any other living creature. Yesterday in the rain she discovered slugs on our bean stalks and proceeded to collect them.

I know, yuck, right? But I can honestly say it doesn't phase me so much any longer. I'm quite use to having nightcrawlers in my fridge for safe keeping, and toads in her pockets when she comes home from the park. Nataley says she wants to be a zookeeper and a vet when she's a grown up. I would think somekind of creepie crawlie research, with no animal cruelty of course, would be right up her alley.

It's probably a good thing that I no longer own my 100% rabit fur coat any longer.

Eleyna - A Whimsy Session May 17th, 2010

Eleyna was feeling a bit nervous about her photo session yesterday. I facebooked her mom and let her know that not only did I have my famous treasure chest (filled to capacity with presents, candy and goodies), but I had bought her flowers to match her butterfly costume. It was enough to get her to come visit me and I *think* she had a great time.

Eleyna doesn't like spider, ant, or just about any other creepie crawlies. She does like ice cream, Jolly Ranchers, and her yellow flowers.

Thanks for coming Eleyna!!!

Etta Jane - A Whimsy Session May 16th, 2010

It was such a pleasure to visit with Miss Etta Jane again! Last time was winter and I think she very much enjoyed getting to explore outside while we took her pictures.

This was my first time shooting at Carter Park in Bellefontaine. Until today I had only seen it from Google Earth, but it seemed like a nice, untouched spot. It was Perfect!!!

...and one last sweet moment of Daddy helping Etta with her hair band.
