Horray for Hatterys! August 30, 2011

I'm constantly trying to tell my kids that photography is not a quick, easy way to get rich. But in their little world, making cash at the fair does make them feel very rich indeed! They did awesome - all three of them getting at least one first place ribbon, with Joshua getting the Best of Show in the black and white youth division.

You can see here that their understanding of exposure, composition and photoshop already vary a great deal. Joshua is the one who LOVES photoshop, though the kids all think warping the images into some creepy looking photo is super fun. Christopher is very much in to working on the composition right now and cropping an image the way he want. Granted I can make a suggestion now and then, but I do make sure he gets to do his art the way he wants. He's also (nearly) a ten year old boy though and tastes reflect that. Nataley still just wants to take pictures of pretty things - so you can imagine the horse shot was one of her few entries this year. She doesn't care to edit so what she takes is what she gets. If the boys start really getting many more ribbons then her, she may end up taking an interest in post processing. But she is only 7, and if she she still wants to wait a few years before learning more than just taking pretty pictures, that's of course fine by me.

Olivia and Sophia - Day 14 August 23, 2011

Well I was thoroughly exhausted after just a few hours with these beautiful twins... so I can't imagine what it'd be like to spend 24 hours in their Momma's shoes! We barely got the girls to sleep at the same time, but did manage a couple sweet shots of the twins together.

First Day of School August 22, 2011

Well it's here. I was bummed, and the quiet of the house was realllly freaky. I thrive on the laughter of my children, and the fun days and nights we've had. I KNOW school is good for them, and that I would be the worst homeschooling mom ever, but it's still hard to let them go year after year.

Christopher is entering 4th grade. So far he adores his new teacher.

Joshua is in 3rd grade. He has the same teacher as Christopher from last year and is absolutely thrilled to have her. He spent much of last year hoping he'd get her this year :)

Please note the matching tshirt the boys chose to wear for their first day. It's so great to have my two sons also be the best of friends.

The fashionista went with an outfit from Justice - as I believe her first two weeks worth of clothes will be from. It's her very favorite store and she loves to look her best!

Fun At ''Camp'' August 18, 2011

The family went to camp together a couple weeks ago... Camp Atterbury that is! I was thoroughly jealous of a trip my husband made for work - getting to see his planes dropping bombs and shooting things up - so he arranged for the kids and I to take a trip to the range. We also brought the newest members of our family, Angry Bird friends, and they so loved the military equipment that we're pretty sure they're gonna enlist!
