Moonlight Marvel
March 19, 2011
As you may have heart, the moon was suppose to be at its brightest, and closest, then it will be again in 18 years. Sure sounds to me like an excuse to get the camera out.
My intentions were to do one of those shots with the stars screaming across the sky... but I also happen to have strep and had tired kids with me and it was cold. I gave up after about 5 minutes of playtime with a friends' house as the subject and will try again another, much warmer, night.

This natural lighting was from the nearly full moon, creating a bright house and vibrant sky above. You can see how the stars are all blurry from the earth's rotation... like I said, I gave up really early with the cold wind tearing through my clothes. There's a funky dot-dot-dot-dot thing coming from the tree. It's a plane.
Just For Fun

Well I got a new toy that, I must say, was long over due. I have not been able to use any bulb settings on any cameras I have owned because I have terrible camera shake. Even holding the button down while on the tripod there is just a terrible amt of shaking, and therefore a terrible photograph. I'm sure some cameras may be able to just set to bulb and click the trigger once, and leave it open. But mine do not. The most conservative way to get the photos I want was to but a wireless trigger (not a new camera) It came and I couldn't wait to play. With yesterdays rain I knew after dinner I could get some really cool photos. But by the time I made it out the rain stopped. Boo hoo. BUT the kids had a BLAST! I explained about the long exposure making it appear much brighter/lighter than it really was, and how we could do some really cool effects.

Nataley was the first to test the theory. The total ss was about 15 seconds here, with Nataley standing still for five seconds, or as still as she could, waving for another five, and then popping out of the frame.
Well the boys could not wait to play as subjects, and Nataley wanted very much to experiment with the different lengths of shutter speeds. Normally Nataley just wants to take pictures of pretty things, and I'm lucky to be able to teach her to get a photograph with proper focus. It was very refreshing to feel like I was not only able to explain shutter speeds, but that she was able to 'get' it a bit too. The rest of the photos Nataley has credit for.

The boys want very much to come back in the summer, with baby powder making them whitish, and try the photos again. I think some vintage clothes would be super cool too. I have a few ideas in mind... if Nataley gives me a chance. Otherwise I think she'll have quite a few photos to enter next competition season.

New Clothes
March 15, 2011
Girls just love new clothes and accessories - even little girls! While the boys did 'manly' shopping this past weekend for boxing gear, Nataley got to shop with Gramma for new clothes. We were super excited when we got a new package from Snuggle Luv in the mail with some new accessories as well! And how much more exciting when some matched new clothes?!?! Seriously, little girl HEAVEN! We had wanted to wear a little skirt, but I told her to switch to knit pants when it was too chilly thismorning. However the slight chill this afternoon, along with the rain, couldn't stop her from getting some pics taken of some new duds.
