A Beautiful Day November 26, 2011 What an AMAZING fall day we had today!!! I got to finally rake the leaves, clean up the mess from garden clean up earlier, put things away for the winter, and on and on... ![]() When we moved in to our home ten years ago this little tree didn't exist yet. I refused to let the little conifer be cut down when we noticed it growing at the root of another tree. It's now bigger then my kiddos and was large enough to decorate this year. Its quite the sad ''Peanuts'' tree, but it sure puts a smile on people's faces when they drive by. ![]() The pets enjoyed the weather very much as well! ![]() It was Poe's first time outside for a long time (he hates rain, damp ground, pretty much what our weather has been for two months) It'd been so long that he fought me big time when I tried to put his harness on... but of course he LOVED being out, and oh so much loved burrowing in the dirt. ![]() But being the spoiled, indoor bunny he is, after every little dig in the dirt, he had to give himself a bath. There's not much cuter then a bunny giving himself a bath. ![]() Except perhaps a close up of a bunny eating a blade of grass. As evening came I went to get Poe off the tiedown. He was still having fun so I started to walk him a little (yes, you can walk a rabbit). It was at this time I heard a ''Boom, Boom, CRASH'' and thought there was a wreck on this main road a half block from our house. Yet there wasn't any squealing tires you might expect of other vehicles trying to keep from joining the collision. I threw the leash to Christopher and said to stay put. I peeked to the alley and just two houses down the garage was destroyed. I jogged down and saw a food through some slats - don't worry, the foot was moving. Got even closer and the person who belonged to the foot, the driver, was crawling out of the garage. At first I thought someone had just backed in to their garage too fast. Silly me. After asking the obvious questions - ''Are you okay? Is there anyone else in the vehicle? Do you want me to call 9-1-1?'' I turned and say a gentleman coming up the alley on his cell. I also saw another neighbors fence DESTROYED along with a bush that honestly I hated and thought needed trimmed or cut down (you just couldn't see around well when driving through the alley to see if other vehicles were coming. Guess I got my wish). A few chosen words were said and the guy took off. YUP! Took off. I took off after him so I could let police know where he went... but he was younger, and I'm out of shape... and frankly that was pretty stupid of me to do that. I did dash through the backyard again and tell the kiddo to put the bunny inside and lock the doors. As I ran beside my house following I had another very stupid idea of grabbing the gun real quick for my pursuit. Like what did I think I was going to do? Shoot after the guy to get him to stop? I have watched WAY too much Law & Order! It took a LOT of police and firetrucks to finally get the car out. Well I'm assuming they got the car out. I left after I gave my statement to the police. My first statement was, ''I was walking my bunny when I heard a crash...'' and I got a really odd look from a fireman and a police officer laughed and asked if I was serious. If only they knew the fun we have at our home! ![]() I let the boys get their pic with the truck that was right behind our house. Christopher was very worried that I didn't tell the WHOLE story to the police and forgot to mention that he too was a witness and saw the guy run off. I tried to tell him that yes, he saw him run past, but I actually talked to him and saw his face. But he coudln't stand me withholding information so I took him down to make sure they didn't need to talk to him. I think the police got a kick out of that and said it was a good idea and they might be in contact with him (said with a slight smirk and a wink). So once again it was an exciting time here at the Hatterys. I know... you just wish you could spend one week in my shoes, don't ya? Happy Thanksgiving! November 25, 2011 Thinking I may be spending day cleaning up from our flood I changed our holiday plans, then changed them again, and we ended up visiting grammas house. I always tell people I grew up in the middle of no where. And even though our town here is pretty small and surrounded by corn fields, when we head to grammas we really feel like we're going out to the boon docks. ![]() Like where there are still covered bridges in use... ![]() My neighbors, though far away, were amish growing up. They've since 'built up' closer to my folks place so that there are many more homesteads nearby. ![]() We ended up spending the night. Nat and I fell asleep on the couch watching Elf, and the boys got the air mattress. I woke up feeling stiff and hating that I zonked out on the couch and Nataley woke with such a sweet smile. Ahhh to be young and think sleeping on the couch all night is super cool. ![]() The kids got to roll around on the air mattress in the morning to empty it out. ![]() ![]() Joshua made this turkey in school. He made it a Jedi turkey. I don't know what that means. Child Labor November 24, 2011 If you live in Northwest Ohio, you know its been raining day after day, after day, for what seems like weeks on end. Well yesterday the rain was a downpour and it lasted from early morning and throughout the night. The pipe that drains to the city line backed up and decided my basement was as good as any other place to empty. It was... disgusting, and horrifying, and a very, very, very long night. When the rain finally stopped, the massive cleanup began. The kids were eager to help and I bought them each a mop to use. We had an absolute blast cleaning up - who knew it could be possible! And now my basement is as clean as its been in years. :) ![]() ![]() I've Been Cheating... November 21, 2011 It's time for the confession - I've been cheating on yall. Yup, I starting another little blog for intimate, personal feelings that don't belong out there for everyone. Well at least not out in public. And you don't need to bother asking for it, as it's completely and totally annonymous, and never leaves my computer. I suppose it could be called more of a journal... but to make things even more difficult for reading, I delete everything later. Go figure. I scruitinize my private off line journal so much that I detest my writing later. Yet I have no problem with typos, poor grammar and mispellings here. But anyway... ![]() I'm one of those crazy people who put the lights up well before Thanksgiving and enjoy the sights and sounds of the holidays for a rediculously long time. I have my excuses - one of them is I don't want to break my leg by falling off of an icey roof. ![]() Directly inside this year is the silver tree - started twelve Christmases ago in our still new home with my husband. I can't help but get sentimental each year bringing out the old ornaments. ![]() ![]() And then each year a few more silver sparkles adorn the tree. ![]() The kids each get new ornaments each year too. We actually got this N ornament mid summer. ![]() You can probably guess this is Nats room. ![]() And Nataley's room is looking different these days too, aside from just the tree being up. Her big Christmas present from us this year. Due to the size it wasn't getting wrapped, and it wasn't going to be a surprise either. But despite being early, she is oh so thrilled with her grown up piece of furniture. ![]() I think each year, perhaps at her birthday, I'm going to take a picture of the special things that get to have the honor of being on top of the vanity. Right now its a photo of her with her BFF, her diary, and a little music box that plays Amazing Grace. She got this music box at the airport after dropping her father off on one of his deployments, and used it night after night and when she'd hear it say a prayer to keep him safe. ![]() And then there's the boys room. Their tastes don't quite match up with my own and often is more of a hodge podge, but I did like some new bulbs they got. ![]() So with the holidays fast approaching, I am sure there will be many new photo opportunities right around the corner and I'll be back to this 'real' blog very soon. Twins First Holiday November 7, 2011 I photographed these twins a few months ago and over the weekend we did a little holiday session. Aren't they precious!? The first is definately my favorite. I'm not use to getting sleeping shots of one baby at 3 months, let alone two at once! It was fun to pose them together for a cuddle pic. ![]() ![]()
Little R's Winter Session November 6, 2011 At six months old, it was time for Baby R to get a few new pics. This is probably my favorite age to photograph - after they sit, before they crawl! ![]() ![]()
